Where: The Oak Park School District offers both Head Start and Great Start Readiness Program at our elementary schools. Einstein Elementary located at 14001 Northend, Oak Park, MI offers both Head Start and the Great Start Readiness Program (GSRP). Key Elementary located at 23400 Jerome, Oak Park, MI and Pepper Elementary located at 24301 Church, Oak Park, MI both offer GSRP.
Age Groups: The Oak Park School District serves children who will be 3, 4, or 5 years of age by December 1 of the current school year.
How do I decide which program is best for me?
Head Start - Head Start is a full day program that takes place Monday through Friday. This program is for children whose families live below the federal poverty guidelines. These children are between the ages of 3 – 5 by Dec. 1 of the current school year. The curriculum is based on the Early Childhood Standards of Quality for preschoolers. Great Start - The GSRP is a full day program taking place from Monday through Thursday. This program is for children who will be 4 years old on or before Dec. 1 of the current school year. These families are low income based and/or have risk factors that may include: single parents, teen-age parents, unemployed parents, or a child may have developmental challenges. To Register you will need: A birth certificate, current immunization record, health appraisal, parent ID, proof of insurance, and proof of residence.
