Dear OPPA Family and Friends,
Welcome to a new school year at the Oak Park Preparatory Academy where we are "Anchored in Excellence." On behalf of the OPPA administrative team, it gives us great pleasure to welcome you to our website. Our school takes pride in its highly qualified and dedicated staff. We are looking forward to working with you as we prepare all of our students for the expectations of high school and higher education. At OPPA, we challenge each of our students to reach their full potential with our quality educational programs and extracurricular activities. Our focus---academic excellence, adolescent development, career pathways, and acquisition of life skills is our #1 priority. The Oak Park Preparatory Academy staff view education as a partnership between home, school and the community. We are excited about partnering with all stakeholders in an effort to ensure student success. As a positive behavior support school (PBS), we work diligently to make sure all students are educated in a safe and secure learning community. With this in mind, please take the opportunity to review the student handbook for information regarding the student Code of Attire (dress code) and Positive Behavior Support expectations.
As school administrators, we are committed to setting the precedence for teaching and learning. Our charge is to meet the needs of students ages twelve through fifteen by providing a challenging curriculum, establishing high student expectations, encouraging the qualities of being on task, productive, practicing safety and achieving, and by empowering students to acquire habits of effectiveness and distinction that will propel them to exit the junior high school and transition to high school on time and proficiently.
On behalf of the entire faculty and staff at the Oak Park Preparatory Academy, we want to welcome you to a new school year. We hope that your experience and years at OPPA will be challenging, rewarding, engaging, memorable, and most of all scholarly. We hope that through our website you find the resources and information you need to stay informed about the exciting programs and activities here at OPPA. We invite you to visit the website often as the information is updated regularly. In addition, please feel free to visit our campus and see firsthand the wonderful things that the Oak Park Preparatory Academy has to offer. You may schedule a tour of the building by calling the main office at (248) 336.7620.
Educationally yours,
