Sigma Gamma Rho Youth Symposium a Success

The Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Inc. 2023 Youth Symposium at Oak Park High School was a huge success! Thank you to everyone who helped to make this a wonderful, engaging and impactful day for our youth! 

The success of the 2023 Youth Symposium was a direct result of our collaboration with Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority and Oakland University Pre-College Programs. 

The annual Youth Symposium is an event held by the various chapters of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority throughout the United States and occurs in March all over the country. This event has been in existence for more than 20 years and its focus is on preparing our youth for future success in academic, community, social, and career endeavors.

The panel discussion was a highlight of the day, providing students an opportunity to ask our volunteers questions about the realities of the various professions, career-building, educational requirements for career paths, and the life skills that will undoubtedly help our youth thrive. Sharing community ties and background with our youth allowed volunteers to connect with them in authentic and powerful ways, the students benefited from hearing the victories and challenges of successful adults who looked like them and came from similar communities.
