Welcome Back from Superintendent Angel Abdulahad
Oak Park Schools Families,
Welcome to the exciting 2024-25 school year! I hope you had a relaxing summer and enjoyed quality time with friends and family. As we begin this new academic year, I want to express my gratitude for your ongoing commitment to Oak Park Schools.
The first day of school for students is Monday, August 26th, 2024. Our team is working diligently to ensure this day is unforgettable for them. We are dedicated to building a culture of career and college readiness from pre-K through 12th grade. Our focus for the 2024-25 school year is clear and resolute: believing in our potential to succeed is the first step toward achieving our objectives. Our goal is to emphasize relationships, relevance, and rigor throughout the year.
We strive to offer our students enriching opportunities and create supportive environments through academic programs, athletics, music, theater, and the arts. We aim to enrich their education with experiences that extend beyond the classroom walls. We accept students as they are and work to bridge any gaps that exist.
This year, we’ve made further progress in improving our facilities, staff, and support services. Thanks to our $54 million bond, we underwent multimillion-dollar upgrades this summer. Improvements included new HVAC systems, new lockers (OPHS), playground enhancements, and modernizing classrooms with tech upgrades. Fine arts facilities were expanded with a completely renovated theater and auditorium, while the gymnasium and outdoor track & field facility were revamped.
I hold high expectations for our school district. While we’ve made significant progress, there is still work to be done to achieve our goals. We believe in our students, care for our students, and will challenge them to be the best version of themselves. I wholeheartedly believe they will rise to the occasion. As always, we thank you for your cooperation and understanding as we continue to push for the best quality of education for our students.
Sincerely,
Angel Abdulahad
