Dear Parents, Students, Staff, and Oak Park Community Members, 

Welcome to the 2026-2027 school year! 

It is my absolute pleasure to be the new superintendent of Oak Park School District.  In my first days in the position, I was overwhelmed by the endless potential and talent that exists in our school system.  As we begin this new school year, I am filled with excitement and optimism for all that lies ahead. Together, we are embarking on a year of growth, achievement, and additional opportunities for our priceless students.  We must continue to move our Oak Park School District forward and create exceptional experiences for every student, despite the challenges that may exist. 

This year marks another exciting chapter in our district's journey. Our students will benefit from more innovative teaching practices, expanded learning opportunities, and meaningful partnerships designed to inspire creativity, critical thinking, and academic success. We invite families, friends, and community members to join us in celebrating the incredible progress taking place across our district and to see firsthand the bright future we are building together. 

As a district, we continue to focus on clear communication, strong partnerships, and thoughtful decision-making that places students first. We have also made strategic staffing and organizational enhancements that will allow us to maximize our talent, strengthen our systems, and make the most strategic use of resources to improve student achievement. 

2026-2027 is a year of higher expectations, more meaningful opportunities, and continued progress. Together, we will foster academic excellence, encourage personal growth, and celebrate the accomplishments of every student.  I will need your partnership in this process and welcome the opportunity to dialogue with you throughout the year regarding questions, concerns, and suggestions.  Our partnership and willingness to work together will be the fundamental foundation for our continued improvements.    

I am honored to serve as your superintendent and look forward to working alongside our students, families, staff, and community as we continue building a district where every child can succeed. The future is bright, and the best is yet to come. Oak Park Public Schools is a gem, and we will showcase our excellence daily.

Dear Oak Park Staff, Parents, and Community Members,

The Oak Park Board of Education is pleased to invite all staff, parents, and community members to an Open House to meet the final candidate for the position of Superintendent of Oak Park School District.

Dr. Marcus Davenport, former Superintendent of Beecher Community Schools and Grand Ledge Public Schools, will be available to meet with attendees and share his vision for the future of the district.

As we return from the winter break, I want to take a moment to celebrate the incredible momentum we've built together. Great things are happening in Oak Park! This month alone, we have two exciting milestones to look forward to: our inspiring MLK Celebration, which honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and the values of equity and service that define our community, and the grand opening of our new athletic center, a state-of-the-art facility that will serve our student-athletes and community for generations to come.

These achievements reflect our shared commitment to providing exceptional experiences for every student in Oak Park Schools. As we move through the remainder of this school year, we will continue to focus on three critical priorities:
