Oak Park Schools is proud to welcome Dr. Charles Chalfant as our new Assistant Principal at OPHS

Dr. Charles Chalfant

Dr. Charles Chalfant joins Oak Park High School with extensive experience leading schools and a deep passion for helping students thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. He holds a Master’s degree from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and a Doctorate from the College of William and Mary.

His career includes service as an Elementary and Middle School Principal in Flat Rock, and most recently as an Elementary School Principal in Ann Arbor. Before that, while in Washington, D.C., Dr. Chalfant served as a Teacher, Instructional Coach, Dean of Students, and national speaker on culturally responsive teaching and relationship-building.

As an education leader, he has been recognized for his commitment to equity and inclusion, named a finalist for Education Leader of the Year in Washington, D.C., out of more than 8,300 staff members, and nominated nationally for the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD) Emerging Leader Class.

Throughout his career, Dr. Chalfant has focused on building strong relationships, supporting teachers, and engaging families as partners in student success. He is excited to bring this same dedication and energy to the Oak Park community.
